MILWAUKEE, WI—Souls to the Polls WI will host “Generation Freedom: The Road to the
2024 Election with Maya Wiley” to kick-off the first day of early voting on Tuesday,
October 22, 2024. The event will feature a conversation with Wiley about her memoir,
Remember, You Are A Wiley, a politically charged account of survival and the power of
activism, as well as a community-based panel with Wiley and other Wisconsin voting and
civil rights leaders. Wiley is a lawyer, professor, and civil rights activist who has appeared
as a legal analyst on MSNBC. Currently, she serves as the President and CEO of the
Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.
The panel discussion with local voting rights and community leaders will focus on the
stakes of the 2024 election. Panelists will speak on get-out-the-vote efforts in
communities of color and on college campuses, as well as the critical election protection
work being done across the state to stop the spread of mis-and-disinformation. A Q&A
session and book signing with La Revo Books will follow the panel. Attendees can get
