ASHLAND, Wis. – Representative Angela Stroud (D–Ashland) will be holding a series of budget town halls to help constituents better understand the budget process, to share details from Governor Evers’ budget proposal, and to hear from constituents about their priorities and concerns. These sessions are opportunities for community members to share their voices, ask questions, and engage in an open dialogue with their elected representative and neighbors.

Rep. Stroud released the following statement:

“For those who were unable to attend the Joint Finance Committee’s budget listening session on April 28 in Hayward, I want to provide an opportunity to contribute your perspective and advocate for the budget priorities that matter most to you. I know it’s not easy for everyone to take time off work and travel, which is why I’m bringing the conversation closer to home.

The Hayward listening session made evident just how much people care about strengthening our communities. Everyone there heard clear calls for investments in public schools, child care, a higher Medicaid reimbursement rate, more support for food pantries and local farmers, expanded services for people with mental illness and disabilities, increased funding for counties, and renewed support for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund.

I sincerely hope that the Republican members of the Joint Finance Committee were listening. These priorities are not only urgent, they are also clearly laid out and paid for in Governor Evers’ budget. We don’t need more tax cuts for the wealthy. We need to take care of kids, elders, and anyone in our communities who needs help. I want to keep hearing directly from the people of the 73rd District about what matters most to you.”
