EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – Today, the campaign to elect Rebecca Cooke in Wisconsin’s competitive Third Congressional District announced that it holds a cash-on-hand advantage over incumbent Derrick Van Orden after just 20 days in the race. The Cooke campaign has a cash on hand of $960,407 and the Van Orden campaign has $852,452 on-hand, accounting for $342,128 in debt. The Cooke campaign holds no debt.
Earlier this month, Cooke announced a $1 million raise in the first twenty days of the race. The Cooke campaign received financial support from over 15,000 individual donors with an average contribution of less than $100. One of the largest individual donors to Derrick Van Orden’s campaign is reckless billionaire Elon Musk, supporting him with a direct contribution of $6,600. This is just Musk’s latest investment in boosting Republicans in Wisconsin after spending $25 million last month failing to buy a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat.
“This campaign is laying the groundwork to defeat Derrick Van Orden and send someone to Washington who is going to fight for working-class Wisconsinites,” said Cooke. “Our campaign is truly people-powered and that is exactly how we are going to take on the elites who are lining up to support Van Orden and his extreme agenda that fails to help everyday people.”
Momentum continues to build behind Cooke’s campaign as she has also earned support from organizations, including the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers (SMART) Union, EMILYs List, Elect Democratic Women, farmers, small business owners, and working people across WI-03.
