MADISON, WI – With economic chaos threatening job security and our country’s economic stability, today Wisconsin Republicans showed that they are trying to stand in the way of safety nets and earned benefits which help those whose jobs have been lost. While the economy is in a freefall, Wisconsin Republicans are continuing to ignore real solutions that our constituents have asked us to work on: affordable housing, healthcare, childcare and mental health services, public education.
The leader of the Republican Party, President Trump, is manufacturing completely unnecessary economic volatility with his reckless tariffs that will hurt Wisconsin businesses and working families. We have an opportunity to pass legislation that would actually help. Instead, as the economy is on the precipice of a recession, we are faced with Republican bills that will make it harder for unemployed workers and their families to get the temporary assistance they need.

We need to raise wages, fund our schools, address the costs of childcare, adopt paid family leave, expand Medicaid and prioritize policies that make Wisconsin a place where people will want to move to because workers and families can thrive.”
