RACINE, Wis. – This week, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services received notice from the Trump administration that they would be losing $210 million in federal grants. These grants help fund programs that serve people across Wisconsin, including direct care for substance abuse and mental health.
Representative Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement:
“Every Wisconsinite deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life and access the care they need, when they need it. The Trump administration’s newly announced healthcare cuts will be devastating for Wisconsinites who rely on these essential programs.
“Just last week, I spoke with tribal epidemiologists about the important work they are doing to keep elders across our state safe and healthy. These cuts will have real impacts on this critical work and people all across our state.
“President Trump and Elon Musk are making these cuts to healthcare in order to provide a several trillion dollar tax cut for themselves and their billionaire friends, and that is wrong. These cuts are dangerous and will cause real harm to communities across Wisconsin. I am calling on President Trump to reverse course and restore these funds.”
