MADISON –Rep. Tony Kurtz (R-Wonewoc) issued the following statement regarding the change of command for the Wisconsin National Guard and Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs:

“I’d like to thank Brig. Gen. David May for his many years of service to Wisconsin, the Wisconsin National Guard and the Department of Military Affairs. I had the pleasure of meeting Gen. May when he was the commander at Volk Field, which I was proud to represent in the 50th district for the first 6 years of my time in the legislature. Gen. May’s unwavering dedication and support of the individuals he led has made it an honor to work with him over the years. I wish him the very best in his next chapter.

“I’m happy to be able to welcome Brig. Gen. Matthew Strub to the Assembly Chambers this coming Monday morning as he is promoted and assumes command of the Wisconsin National Guard and Department of Military Affairs. Gen. Strub and I may not have flown helicopters in the Army together, but it’s something we have in common. I’m looking forward to working with Gen. Strub, continuing to support the goals and critical missions of his service members and staff.”
