MADISON, Wis. – St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin Chairman Thomas Fowler delivered the 2025 State of the Tribes Address to a joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature today. After the conclusion of the address, Rep. Goodwin delivered the following statement:
“Thank you, Chairman Thomas Fowler of the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, for delivering the 2025 State of the Tribes Address. Your speech is a powerful and moving reminder that the sovereign tribal nations of Wisconsin are a critical part of the fabric of our state. It is always an honor to welcome indigenous leaders to the floor of the State Assembly for this special occasion.
“I support our tribal communities one hundred percent, and was moved by Chairman Fowler’s words addressing water quality in the state of Wisconsin. Our tribal communities are on the forefront of the climate crisis, and we must support their work to protect our lands, just as we must support efforts across the state to provide all residents clean, lead-free drinking water.
“I know we can work together to build a better Wisconsin.”
