GREEN BAY, WI — Yesterday, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin held a “Hands Off Medicaid” roundtable in Green Bay, Wisconsin in conjunction with Protect Our Care Wisconsin to highlight how Medicaid is under attack like never before. Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans in Congress are working to cut Medicaid by nearly a trillion dollars to pay for tax-breaks to the ultra-wealthy. Medicaid plays a vital role in providing affordable health care coverage for more than 1.1 million Wisconsinites, including more than 135,000 residents of Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional district alone.

April marks the eighth annual Medicaid Awareness Month. During the event, speakers discussed what’s at stake for the slew of vital Medicaid supports available to those in recovery, born with development challenges, injured in accidents through no fault of their own, and more.

“Threats to Medicaid are very serious right now as the president and Republicans in Congress are proposing massive slashes to the Medicaid program,” Baldwin said.

Medicaid benefits just about every household and community in the country, but the Republican health care agenda isn’t about families or everyday Americans — it’s about Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy, no matter who pays the price.
