RACINE, Wis. – Tomorrow, former Maryland Governor and Social Security Administration Commissioner Martin O’Malley will join the “Citizens’ Town Hall” in Racine to answer questions about proposed Republican-backed cuts to Medicaid, how Elon Musk’s DOGE is threatening Social Security, and more.
The event, hosted by Fair Share America, Opportunity Wisconsin, and state coalition partners, will provide Wisconsinites an opportunity to share their personal stories and get an update from Washington since their elected Representative in Congress refuses to engage directly with his constituents on these important topics. Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer will also join the town hall to speak with constituents.
“As Republicans in Congress continue to push devastating cuts to programs like Medicaid and SNAP just to give more tax breaks to billionaires, and Elon Musk’s DOGE makes cuts that reduce access to benefits like Social Security, Wisconsinites have questions about the future of programs that help them succeed,” said Opportunity Wisconsin Program Director Meghan Roh. “We’re excited to welcome former Maryland Governor and Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley to Racine to have an open conversation with Wisconsinites about these proposals and why it’s more important than ever to speak out against them.”
“Donald Trump and Elon Musk are trying to break social security so they can rob it,” said Former Maryland Governor and Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley. “Americans of every background are rising up to say ‘hands off’ our earned benefits and their voices will be heard.”
Congressman Bryan Steil has also been invited to attend the town hall meeting and speak with his constituents. Recently Steil voted in support of a Republican-backed budget resolution which will force at least $1.5 trillion in cuts to critical programs, including Medicaid and SNAP, and use that money to extend and expand tax breaks for billionaires and corporations.
