MADISON, Wisc. – On Wednesday, Amy Loudenbeck, Campaign Manager for Brittany Kinser’s campaign for DPI Superintendent, released the following statement strongly condemning a new attack ad that attempts to defame Kinser with an outrageous narrative filled with grossly misconstrued and fabricated claims.
“In a race that should be focused on a better future for Wisconsin children, organizations supporting Jill Underly’s campaign have resorted to gutter politics; pushing out ads filled with grossly misconstrued and fabricated claims. I strongly condemn the newest ad by A Better Wisconsin and urge Jill Underly to do the same. We are actively assessing our options with legal counsel.”
BACKGROUND:
- Brittany Kinser resigned as Executive Director of Rocketship Wisconsin on June 30, 2022.
- The ad by A Better Wisconsin falsely claims that Kinser “cut corners by using unlicensed teachers.”
- This claim is false, and A Better Wisconsin failed to provide a citation to support it – because none exists.
- The ad further insinuates that Kinser hired and employed an unlicensed teacher with a gun conviction who was later charged with molesting a child.
- Kinser was no longer employed by the school at the time the individual was hired.
- Kinser was NOT responsible for hiring the individual mentioned in the ad.
- Additionally, the ad falsely asserts that Kinser’s “policies put students in danger.”
The citation—a 2016 NPR blog post—does not mention Kinser; it discusses a group of schools in California.
