State superintendent challenger Brittany Kinser has her second ad up focused on incumbent Jill Underly’s performance leading the Department of Public Instruction, saying she “failed.”

According to AdImpact, Kinser now has $1.3 million in reservations for her campaign. And Underly has $897,000. A Better Wisconsin Together has also reported $1.1 million of spending in TV and online ads backing Underly.

The ad began over the weekend and is running in the Milwaukee and Green Bay areas.

“I’m running for state superintendent because Jill Underly has failed,” Kinser says in the spot.

The ad pans between Kinser speaking to the screen and photos of Underly as Kinser says what she plans to do differently.

“Underly lowered academic standards, I’ll restore them,” Kinser says. “Underly has overseen a reading crisis. I’ll refocus education on reading, writing and math.”

Kinser and Underly will face off at the general election on April 1.
