In my 82 years I never dreamed America would become more like the authoritarian countries of Russia, China and North Korea than the democracy of, by and for the people.
A couple returning from their honeymoon in Puerto Rico saw his wife pulled aside at the airport.She was here from Peru working on a W-2 visa and vetted for a green card ended up at a detention center in Louisiana.
A woman in her 50s who had lived here over 30 years and a women in her 30s with proof of valid legal residency who came here as a teen were taken away. None of these women has a criminal record.
Nearly 300 Venezuela immigrants were loaded on planes and sent to a hard core prison in El Salvador. They were called gang members and designated as terrorists.
They were given no court appearances but enough time existed to hold them in custody so a photo-op showing them shackled boarding busses and planes and having their heads shaved while in mass forced into cells in the El Salvador prison.
If they were guilty of crimes warranting prison surely a U.S. court would have made that determination. They were never tried for any crimes and sent to prison in a foreign country.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Trump administration would continue to remove undocumented Venezuelan immigrants on deportation flights despite a ruling from a federal judge that a pause must occur so the required “due process” be executed.
Border czar Tom Homan said: “I don’t care what the judges think. I don’t care.”
The “RULE OF LAW” is the basis of America’s Constitution. When we no longer have respect and adherence to our laws, we no longer have a democracy. The people’s government is being shoved aside for a government “of the president, by the president, for the president.”
This makes us no different than the dictators in Russia, China, North Korea.
I fear I have lost my America. Will it ever come back?
