Work to reconstruct US 51 between Spring Road and 5th Street in Stoughton, Dane County, is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 24. Other improvements include reconstructing the existing 2-lane urban section of US 51 to include a travel lane and bicycle lane in each direction, reconstructing sidewalk, curb ramps and crosswalks to meet current standards and installing a new pedestrian island at Ashberry Lane.
Construction will take place in stages, stage one will take place between Spring Road and County N. Motorists can expect to encounter US 51 to be closed and detoured utilizing WIS 138, WIS 59 and I-39/90.
Construction is currently scheduled for completion in November 2025. The construction schedule is based on favorable weather conditions and construction status.
