MADISON, Wis. — Today, Judge Susan Crawford’s campaign for the Wisconsin Supreme Court launched “What’s At Stake,” a new ad highlighting how Brad Schimel doesn’t trust women to make their own healthcare decisions—and if Brad Schimel wins, women’s right to make their own health care decisions is gone.
As a former prosecutor, a common sense judge, and a mom, Judge Crawford trusts women to make their own health care decisions.
Schimel has said that “there is not a constitutional right to abortion” in Wisconsin. Schimel also exclaimed on the 1849 law that bans all abortions with no exceptions, “What is flawed about that law?” In 2012, before Roe v. Wade was overturned, Brad Schimel defended Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban, signing onto a legal white paper agreeing that the ban—which does not include exceptions for rape or incest—should be enforced if Roe was struck down. And Schimel’s right-hand man and top aide at the Wisconsin Department of Justice played a key role in the successful effort to end reproductive freedom nationwide, even introducing the legal strategy that resulted in the U.S. Supreme Court striking down Roe.

Judge Crawford:
There’s been a lot of talk about this Supreme Court race, but here’s what’s really at stake.
Brad Schimel wants to make sure women don’t have the right to make their own healthcare decisions.
If he wins, that right is gone.
I’m Susan Crawford, a former prosecutor, a common sense judge, and a mom, and I trust women to make their own health care decisions.
Brad Schimel doesn’t, but I always will and that’s why I’m asking for your vote.
