3rd Assembly District

District performance: 63.5% Republican
The dynamic: Bodden originally planned to seek reelection, but dropped his bid after Tusler — a longtime friend — decided to run again for the seat he was first elected to in 2016.
4th Assembly District

The dynamic: Steffen announced his reelection bid for the 4th, while Elijah Behnke is now running in the 6th AD GOP primary against state Rep. Peter Schmidt, R-Bonduel.
5th Assembly District

The dynamic: Behnke originally told WisPolitics he planned to run for the 4th AD, the seat he was drawn into. But he changed gears to run in the 6th instead.
7th Assembly District

District performance: 60.1% Democratic
The dynamic: Donovan is running for the 61st AD, telling WisPolitics he’ll move into the seat if he wins in November. Meanwhile, Riemer announced his retirement after a dozen years in the Assembly.
9th Assembly District

The dynamic: Knodl announced he would forgo a run for the Senate seat he won in a special election last spring after being drawn into a district with Sen. Duey Stroebel, R-Saukville. Brandtjen announced her decision to run again days after the Waukesha County DA declined to charge her in an alleged scheme to evade campaign finance limits as Adam Steen unsuccessfully challenged Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, in 2022.
25th Assembly District

The dynamic: August, the Assembly majority leader, has moved into the district after he was initially drawn into the 32nd with Rep. Amanda Nedweski (R-Pleasant Prairie). The 31st overlaps with some of August’s former territory, and Schutt announced she won’t seek reelection.
