Vance was clearly being glib to make a point. But the point is valid. Liberals are generally less happy than conservatives. The studies showing this have been replicated for decades.
Vance was once a “never Trumper,” but reversed course on entering the 2020 Senate race in Ohio when he decided he needed Trump’s endorsement to have a chance to win the Republican nomination. He suddenly became an outspoken supporter of the then-president and a spokesperson for Trump’s Big Lie.
