(Green Bay, Wi) In a never-seen-before development in this year’s race for Green Bay Mayor, incumbent Eric Genrich received over 80 percent of his contributions over the second half of 2022 from the Madison-based Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW).

In a recently filed report covering activity over the last six months of last year, Genrich raised a total of $62,465, but $50,000 of that came from a single donation on December 31st from the DPW.

“I’m running for mayor to remove partisan politics from city hall so we can focus on fixing our roads, cracking down on crime and growing our economy,” said mayoral candidate Chad Weininger. “We shouldn’t have partisans from Madison trying to dictate what happens here in Green Bay.”

Over the same reporting period, Weininger raised $108,855 – 85 percent of which came from individuals in Brown County.

“I’m proud I have such strong, bipartisan support right here in our community,” said Weininger who has the backing of both Republicans and Democrats. “I know we can get Green Bay back on track and focus on what matters to move our city forward – and it starts by rejecting this effort by Madison partisans to buy the mayor’s office.  If Eric Genrich really wants to put people over politics, he’ll send that $50,000 back to Madison.”

Weininger is currently the Director of Administrator for Brown County, where he played a key role in securing the Green Bay Packaging expansion and the redevelopment of the former Pulliam Plant site that will soon house the coal piles that currently are in downtown Green Bay. Prior to that he served two terms in the state Assembly where he authored legislation that helped facilitate the Titletown Brewing/Railyard District redevelopment.  Weininger also served as the Green Bay City Clerk.
