PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI – Last week, Title 42 expired under President Biden. Over the last three years, Title 42 has allowed U.S. authorities to quickly expel thousands of migrants at the border.
Derrick Van Orden has witnessed the immigration crisis we are facing at our southern border firsthand and he has spoken directly with border patrol agents who are working to prevent the increasing influx of illegal immigrants flooding into our cities and streets.
Border security is an issue that Van Orden has prioritized in Washington and during his time on the campaign trail.
In January 2022, Van Orden paid a visit to our southern border with Rep. Tony Gonzalez and Rep. Markwayne Mullin, where he expressed his concern for the fentanyl that is flowing into our communities due to the Biden Administration’s failed policies. Van Orden conducted several interviews speaking about how lax border policies continue to contribute to the growing trend in overdose deaths. Watch here.
Over 1,200 Wisconsinites died of fentanyl overdoses in 2021. The data doesn’t lie, and the numbers show that a weak southern border allows 90% of the fentanyl in the United States to be smuggled across various points of entry.
Van Orden has always made the securing the southern border a priority through words and actions, both as a candidate and now as a sitting congressman. He has not wavered in support of policies that will secure the southern border and stop deadly fentanyl from flooding into our communities in Wisconsin.
