MadisonWI —State Senator Eric Wimberger (R – Green Bay) released the following statement in reaction to Governor Evers signing the 2023-25 state budget:

“Regardless of the governor’s vetoes, this budget still funds key priorities I pushed for that are important to the district, and I’m glad to see it signed into law. The Ray Nitschke Bridge will get fixed, the De Pere Southern Bridge built, we will train more psychologists in the Green Bay area and across the state. We will also now have a dedicated $125 million PFAS Fund to address contamination across the state – all things I promised to push for as a first-term member of the Joint Committee on Finance.”

“With record investments in schools and local governments, even the governor couldn’t deny that the budget crafted by me and my Republican colleagues is good for the state of Wisconsin. However, it’s disappointing to see that he used his powerful veto pen to slash over half of our proposed tax cuts, reducing our income tax cut by $2.7 billion.”
