Madison, WI – Today, the Senate Committee on Insurance and Small Business held a hearing on Senate Bill 110, which would extend postpartum coverage under Medicaid from 60 days to a full year. This extension of coverage for postpartum care under the Medical Assistance program to a full year has been proposed by Governor Evers and Democrats in each of the past three state budget proposals.
“Extending coverage of postpartum care under Medicaid is a no-brainer. I’m proud to support this legislation, because it would significantly improve both maternal and infant health in Wisconsin, and likely extend coverage to more than 5,000 additional Wisconsinites each month.”
“We have an opportunity to improve maternal health by passing this bill, but the most cost-effective solution is to finally join the 40 states that have expanded Medicaid in a bipartisan manner.”
