BELOIT – Today, following Governor Tony Evers’s action on the 2023-2025 state budget, Sen. Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) released the following statement:

“I applaud Governor Evers for decisively rejecting Republican attempts to give the wealthy a tax cut so large that it would have upended future state budgets. Instead, the Governor has used his partial veto pen to deliver responsible tax relief for Wisconsinites while pressing for action on issues that are critical to our state, like funding for childcare and education.

“I thank Governor Evers for taking these steps to improve the budget, and I encourage my Republican colleagues to return to the floor of the legislature to work with Democrats to put our surplus to work for the hardworking people of our state. I echo the Governor’s call to fund critical investments in child care, family leave, and public education at every level. Our state cannot afford to wait.”
