Madison – Today the Wisconsin Assembly convened on a package of Republican led tax plan bills. Representative Lee Snodgrass (D-57) released the following statement:

“Legislative Democrats are working to provide every Wisconsinite the freedom,

opportunity, and economic security to thrive no matter their zip code. When discussing tax policy, we want to ensure we are providing real relief to working families while ensuring our state remains able to meet the needs of its residents. Unfortunately, the tax plan proposed by the Republicans is not fiscally sound or sustainable in the long run. Democrats believe tax cuts should be targeted to those who really need them which is why we supported the

Governor’s proposed a middle class tax cut in the budget. I simply don’t think that those making $18K a year should be taxed at the same rate as those making $450K a year. Wisconsin families are struggling and the bills in this tax plan don’t address the real problems facing families from access to affordable childcare, healthcare and more.”
