MADISON – Today, Representative Alex Joers (D-Middleton) was appointed to the Legislative Task Force on Childhood Obesity.
“I appreciate the opportunity to work on an issue that I care deeply about – ensuring that all kids can live active, happy, and healthy lives. As a community, we have a great number of resources to address the growing issue of childhood obesity. Now it is the time for the state to hear from experts about what’s working and how our state can be of service.”
Prior to being elected to the Wisconsin State Legislature, Representative Joers worked at his family’s small business promoting motor skill development for children ages four months to 12 years old. Representative Joers will bring his 14 years of experience focusing on children’s health and fitness to this legislative task force.
“I have had the opportunity to see first-hand the benefits a healthy lifestyle can provide to kids. There’s nothing more important than investing in our future generations, and this is a great opportunity to make sure we’re providing the right kind of investments in addressing childhood obesity. I’m looking forward to working hard with my colleagues on this task force to determine how we can best confront childhood obesity together.”
