Madison – Representative Nate Gustafson (R-Fox Crossing) last Wednesday voted yes on Assembly Bill 245 to significantly increase shared revenue funding to Fox Valley communities.
“The passage of AB 245 represents one of the largest ever investments in our local municipalities across Wisconsin and will benefit every single person across the state,” Rep. Gustafson said after the bill passed the Assembly 68 votes to 26. “For too long smaller towns, villages, and cities have been underfunded and this bill will go a long way in ensuring that all municipalities are fairly funded.”
This bill provides communities with at least a minimum 20% increase with nearly every community in the 55th assembly district seeing much higher increases: Wolf River (352.6%), Clayton (306.4%), Vinland (263.7%), Grand Chute (238.2%), Town of Neenah (197.6%), Winchester (179.4%), Fox Crossing (138.1%), City of Neenah (42.7%), and Appleton (20%).
This bill allows shared revenue aid increases with the growth of sales tax ensuring communities grow and benefit as Wisconsin grows and benefits, repeals the personal property tax, reins in the powers of public health officials to close businesses, and brings choice and charter school funding up to public school levels.
“The other provisions in the bill, such as the repeal of the personal property tax and increased funding to choice and charter schools, will make Wisconsin a more attractive place to live and work. I will continue to work with both sides of the aisle to deliver results for the Fox Valley.”
Governor Evers signed Assembly Bill 245 into law this morning.
