Madison – Today, the Assembly passed a number of bills that would reform taxes in Wisconsin. Representative Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) issued the following statement on these bills:

“I am disappointed that the tax cut bill passed today does not benefit those who need it most. We should be passing bills that provide real relief for the residents of our state. We need to use taxpayer money responsibly. This tax cut would put our state in a difficult fiscal position when creating the next budget.

“Today we also voted on a resolution that would disallow a governor from allocating federal funding without legislative approval. I am certain that this would slow down the allocation of money that Wisconsinites need urgently. During the pandemic, Wisconsin residents got relief quickly. Governor Evers allocated federal relief dollars that allowed the people of Wisconsin to deal with and move on from the pandemic.  Meanwhile, legislative leadership did not bring the legislature in to pass proposals for 300 days. Governors need the ability to react to crises without being slowed down by obstructionists.

“I will continue to advocate for proposals that move our state forward.”
