MILWAUKEE – On Saturday, April 8, 2023, Supervisor Peter Burgelis, in partnership with Milwaukee County Parks, the Harley Davidson Foundation (HDF), and the Milwaukee Parks Foundation are hosting a public forum to discuss the future of Highland Park.

The Harley-Davidson Foundation is proposing to transform a central element of the Juneau Avenue Campus into a community park and gathering space. Specifically, HDF has announced their plans to restore Highland Park to a clean and welcoming public space that supports community gathering and is consistent with the larger overall plan for the area. The proposal also includes a possible namechange for Highland Park in addition to potential funding for its’ transformation and upkeep.

The event will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, on 4420 W. Vliet St., the Washington Park Senior Center. 7,500 postcards are currently being mailed to nearby residents, inviting the public and interested parties to the meeting.

Supervisor Burgelis made the following statement: “The Harley-Davidson Foundation’s announced investment in the former headquarters property will make an incredible positive change to the neighborhood. When changes to County Parks are considered, participation and support from our residents are critical. I’m looking forward to hearing from the community at our neighborhood meeting on April 8.”
